REACTIVATION OF A KORZO IN HORSKY PARK
Year
Location
2023
Bratislava, Slovakia
This proposal is a response to the suggestions of the citizens of the old town who have expressed interest in improving accessibility and safety in the public space around Horský Park. It also complements the strategic plans of the city of Bratislava until 2030. The goal of this documentation is to develop plans and strategies that will allow the transformation of this area to better serve the needs of local residents and its visitors and bring life back to the streets, including families with children. Horský Park and its surroundings are a historical and natural treasure of the city of Bratislava, and therefore, securing and making it accessible has a significant impact on the quality of life in its vicinity.
Accessibility and Transportation:
This documentation addresses the improvement of transportation as well as the expansion of the existing Korzo created by the initiative of the Old Town. Creating a one-way road from Drotárska through Matúšova Street can slow down traffic but also bring new opportunities for creating cycle paths, which is in the interest of the residents of this part of the city and in the interest of the Bratislava City Council within its strategic plans.
Vibrant Space along the Korzo route:
The plan focuses on connecting existing public spaces around Horský Park and complementing them with a new vibrant space. The Bratislava City Council is engaged in creating and revitalizing spaces that can attract city residents, whether into nature or urban life, which is in line with the proposed solution.
